The Clinton Central Bulldogs will square off against the Clinton Prairie Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Clinton Central will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Delphi Community, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Oracles by a score of 8-4 on Wednesday.
Klayton Stevens was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Carson O'Brien, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie made easy work of Fountain Central on Wednesday and carried off a 15-5 victory. Considering the Gophers have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Alex King, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Jackson Price was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Clinton Prairie's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Clinton Central, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Clinton Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Clinton Prairie in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
