Baseball Recap: Franklin Extends Winning Streak to Three

Franklin put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Iroquois Braves 11-1.

Sam Wimer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Wimer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Franklin got a massive performance out of Ty Prince, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Prince a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandt McAfoose, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iroquois only posted an OBP of .286.

Franklin's record now sits at 3-0. As for Iroquois, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coming up, Franklin will be playing in front of their home fans against Reynolds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Iroquois, they will venture away from home to face off against Cochranton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Iroquois is facing Cochranton at the right time seeing as Cochranton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
