It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mount Vernon Majors can now relate to. They were dealt a 49-16 defeat at the hands of Lake Braddock on Friday. Mount Vernon has struggled against Lake Braddock recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mount Vernon's loss came despite strong showings from Matthew Moret and Hudson Grimsley. Moret picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Grimsley threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Moret was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 68 yards.
Lake Braddock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Austin, who picked up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Lake Braddock also got a significant boost from JT Bordeaux, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.
Mount Vernon now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lake Braddock, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Mount Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Braddock will be playing in front of their home fans against West Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Springfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
