This season hasn't been kind to the Avant Garde Academy Sharks, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were beaten by Berean Christian 74-13 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Avant Garde Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while Berean Christian is ranked 208th).
Berean Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yemeli Tavarez, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tavarez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalia LaBrec, who scored 19 points.
Avant Garde Academy's loss was their tenth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Berean Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avant Garde Academy will play host again and welcome Dade Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dade Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Berean Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cardinal Newman at 5:30 p.m.
