Casteel has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Independence Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Casteel nor Independence posted many goals in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Two weeks ago, Casteel faced Campo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Casteel fell just short of Campo Verde by a score of 1-0.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Independence had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Vipers onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but Independence sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Their one-goal win came courtesy of
Julianna Palacios, who's now up to 14 this season.
Casteel's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2-1. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season.
Casteel took their win against Independence when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Casteel repeat their success, or does Independence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
