Softball Recap: Foundation Academy Wins Going Away Against Mount Dora Christian Academy

Foundation Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs on Thursday as they made off with an 8-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in April, they had to take a 7-5 loss.

Reagan Schirmer was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Schirmer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Katherine Johnson and Kamryn Arico did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Arico went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Arico has posted since back in February. Norah Ranaudo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Foundation Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Foundation Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

Foundation Academy and Mount Dora Christian Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lions will challenge Cambridge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foundation Academy will need to watch out since the Lancers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they will take on Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
