Baseball Recap: Lordsburg Wins Going Away Against Navajo Pine

Lordsburg won the last time they faced Navajo Pine and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lordsburg Mavericks blew past the Navajo Pine Warriors 22-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Justin Platz and Isaac Murillo were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Platz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Murillo pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Platz scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Murillo went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.

In other batting news, Daniel Scott was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Kaydon Jacquez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Lordsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Navajo Pine only posted an OBP of .316.

Lordsburg now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Navajo Pine, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Lordsburg and Navajo Pine will both be playing Tohatchi the next time they take the field. Lordsburg will head out to face Tohatchi at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while Navajo Pine will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
