The West Lincoln Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-38 walloping at the hands of Lincolnton. While losing is never fun, West Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while Lincolnton is ranked 74th).
West Lincoln lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mikalister Anderson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals. Anderson hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Gideon Allen was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Landen Lyerly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lincolnton, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Lyerly has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Mcclain, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
West Lincoln's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Lincolnton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lincoln will challenge Bandys at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincolnton on the road again on Friday and play against Bunker Hill at 8:30 p.m. on January 26th.
