The Memorial Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 37-18 fall against Garfield. Memorial has not had much luck with Garfield recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Diamon Sims was Memorial's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Garfield found their leader in underclassman Mandy Cardinal, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey May, who scored five points.
Memorial's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Garfield, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Memorial will be home for the holidays to greet Champion at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Champion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Memorial in Ohio (Champion is ranked 178th, while Memorial is ranked 710th). Garfield will be home for the holidays to greet Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
