5A Southern Idaho recap October 22, 2013
Capital extended the longest winning streak in 5A Southern Idaho this week by beating Borah, 77-27. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Meridian and Vallivue played the most contested game in the league this week, with Meridian eventually emerging with a 47-43 victory. Bryson Stout threw for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 155 yards during the win.
Conner Poulson was a passing and rushing force as Capital defeated the Lions. He completed 18 passes for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 131 yards. Poulson's key target this week was Tarik Littlejohn, who caught 6 passes for 122 yards.
Cole Skinner threw for 222 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-18 with 1 interception.
Montana Bilger was the best receiver in the league this week as Borah fell to Todd Simis' team. Bilger racked up 7 receptions for 147 yards. Trey Dennis helped Borah's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 55 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Skinner of Darren Corpus' team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,510. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Littlejohn. The Capital star has 34 catches for 506 yards.
The most important game in 5A Southern Idaho this week will be the match up between Eagle and Timberline. The Mustangs enters the contest ranked ninth in the state, while the Wolves ranks 18th.
The Eagles took down the Lions 77-27 last week, the largest margin of any game. Poulson ran for 131 yards in the win.
