2A-1 Region II District 6 recap October 1, 2013
Farmersville scaled the state rankings by moving to 479 from 560 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region II District 6. The Farmers were able to move up by topping Sunnyvale 51-48.
Farmersville and Sunnyvale played the most contested game in the league this week, with Farmersville eventually emerging with a 51-48 victory.
Ryan Cottingame threw for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 18-28 with 1 interception.
Cottingame put up the best numbers through the air as John Settle's team fell to Sammy Burnett's team. Cottingame's favorite target this week was Josh Quinn, who caught 4 passes for 121 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Sunnyvale's Cottingame and Quinn have proven to be a lethal combination. Cottingame has thrown for 1,515 yards this season, while Quinn, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 28 catches for 580 yards. Caddo Mills's Erik Richards leads the league in rushing yards with 720.
One of 2A-1 Region II District 6's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Sunnyvale and the Foxes face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pottsboro takes on the Farmers. The Cardinals are currently in second, while Farmersville is in fourth.
Pottsboro took down Howe 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Zane Pritchett threw for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 56 yards during the win.
