There's no place like home for the Point Loma Pointers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Foothills Christian by a score of 55-44 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Point Loma also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2022.
Grant Stewart was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Freeman, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals.
When it comes to explaining why Foothills Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Burke. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Liam Orozco, who scored 8 points.
Point Loma's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Foothills Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Point Loma will be playing at home against High Tech SD at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. High Tech SD has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Foothills Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Ocean View Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
