Brusly came tearing into Saturday's match with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Iowa Yellowjackets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.
Abigail Heidbrink spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, LillyRose Albarez and Abby David did most of the damage at the plate: Albarez scored a run while going 2-for-4, while David went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI David has posted over her last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Monk, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Brusly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iowa only managed six hits.
Brusly pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Iowa, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-8.
Brusly will have a chance to go back-to-back against Iowa: the pair will be back at it again later today.
