The Pierson Whalers kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Mount Sinai 58-25. Pierson lost against Mount Sinai in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-49 score last time.
Mount Sinai was led to victory by Blake Kolsch and Brian Vales. Kolsch scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists, while Vales scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds. Vales is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Marcus Magloire was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 6 rebounds.
Pierson's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mount Sinai, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pierson will face off against Southold at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Sinai, they will head out on the road to face off against Kings Park at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
