The Antietam Mountaineers lost against the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Antietam took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lancaster Mennonite. Antietam has struggled against Lancaster Mennonite recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Antietam saw an underclassman step up: AJ Schiefly scored 21 points. Schiefly scored a full 46.7% of Antietam's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Coste, who scored five points.
Antietam now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Lancaster Mennonite, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Antietam and Brandywine Heights Area will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they will be playing at home against Lancaster Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lancaster Country Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Lancaster Mennonite is ranked 212th).
