Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Lions on Friday. Forest Hills' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Forest Hills had strong showings from Brady Hibbard, who threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns, and Jerel Bolder, who picked up 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Leading Shelby to victory were Lan Farmer and Izay Bridges. Farmer threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, while Bridges gained 216 total yards and three touchdowns. Bridges was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Shelby's defense and their three sacks. Justyn Ross was especially locked on to Forest Hills' QB and sacked him twice.
Forest Hills' loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Shelby, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Forest Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shelby will head out on the road to face off against Reidsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Reidsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
