The top five teams remained steady in the Sac-Joaquin Section Top 25, setting up one showdown this week as most highly ranked teams have a bye heading into Oct. 11 league openers.
No. 7 Del Oro (Loomis) plays host to No. 6 St. Mary's (Stockton) on Friday in a rematch of a playoff thriller from last season, won by Del Oro.
Jesuit (Carmichael) makes the biggest leap, going from No. 25 to 16 after crushing previous No. 15 Franklin (Elk Grove) 42-7 in starting 4-0.

The Bulldogs rolled Monterey Trail (Elk Grove) 49-21 after leading 42-7 at the half.
Jake Browning passed for 361 yards and six touchdowns, four to
Troy Knox, and
Bailey Laolagi rushed for 78 yards and a score. Folsom aims to repeat as Delta River League and Sac-Joaquin Section champions.

2. (2) Elk Grove (5-0)The Thundering Herd beat Nevada Union (Grass Valley) 43-0, ending a state-record 344-game scoring streak for the Miners, dating back to the opening night of the 1984 season.
Elijah Jones rushed for 105 yards and a score and
Spencer Sheff went for 138 and three. Elk Grove looms as the Delta Valley Conference favorite.

3. (3) Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) (5-0)The Eagles blasted previous No. 8 Pitman (Turlock) 42-7 as
Ian Broom returned to health and rushed for 117 yards and a score and
Deaundre Terrell completed 15 of 19 passes for 258 yards and four touchdowns, three to
Wyatt Demps. Pleasant Grove faces Folsom in Week 10 in the Delta River League.

4. (4) Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (5-0)The Trojans beat previous No. 14 Vacaville 28-14 as backup QB
Jacob Sipes took over for a banged-up
Ian Book and accounted for three touchdowns. He also had one of his team's three blocked kicks.
Tanner Hughes rushed for 112 yards. Oak Ridge opens Delta River League with the defending champion.

5. (5) Granite Bay (3-1)The Grizzlies beat NorCal-ranked Pittsburg 39-35 as
Josh Neal passed for 313 yards and four touchdowns, hitting
Marc Ellis for two and one each to
Dylan Keeney and
Tony Ellison, who also ran for a 61-yard score. The defending Sierra Foothill League champions plan to repeat.

6. (7) St. Mary's (Stockton) (3-1)The Rams beat Lincoln (Stockton) 22-8 as
Kaleb Parrish tossed a touchdown pass and his teammates rushed for 178 yards.

Mason Humes field goal.
Michael Moore passed for 223 yards and four touchdowns, three to

Dylan Kainrath rushed for 87 yards and a score and
Tanner Woods had a key fourth-down stop in the second OT to set up Humes. The Golden Eagles aim to recapture the Sierra Foothill League title.

8. (6) Grant (Sacramento) (3-2)The Pacers lost 38-35 in double overtime to No. 7 Del Oro (Loomis) despite another big rushing night for
Deandre Whittington-Grays, who went for 221 yards and three touchdowns. Grant is a factor yet again in the Delta Valley Conference.

9. (10) Burbank (Sacramento) (2-2)The Titans beat Johnson (Sacramento) 63-0, rushing for 469 yards on 26 carries for an average of 18 yards a pop.
Benjamin Jones had 158,
Calvin Green 145 and
Ernest Jenkins 89 as they combined for five touchdowns. The Titans had 10.5 sacks.

10. (11) Central Catholic (Modesto) (4-1)The Raiders rolled Livingston 65-8 in rushing for 251 yards on 22 carries (11.4 yards per attempt).
Matt Ringer went for 118 and two scores, while
Reggie Bland and
Montell Bland each scored twice. Burbank is the heavy favorite to win the Metro League.

The Thunder beat previous No. 12 Inderkum (Sacramento) 19-7 as
Logan Webb tossed two touchdowns and sophomore RB
Evyn Holtz rushed 36 times for 152 yards. Rocklin expects to compete for the Sierra Foothill League championship.

12. (20) Rio Linda (3-1)The Knights beat Center 17-0 as
Leonard Skattebo rushed for 106 yards and a score and the defense played its best game of the season. The Knights aim to win the Capital Valley Conference.

13. (15) Manteca (3-1)The Buffaloes beat Sonora 49-21 as
Alex Laurel rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns and
Michael Gonzalez went for 67 and two.

14. (8) Pitman (Turlock) (4-1)The Pride was crushed by No. 3 Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 42-7 in what felt a lot like the 2011 playoff loss to the same club.

15. (24) Tokay (Lodi) (5-0)The Tigers rolled Lodi 44-7 as
Marcos Ortega,
Jeffery Evans and
Kyle Rivers each ran for scores and
Allen Ward caught two touchdowns. The Tigers find out what they have against St. Mary's soon enough.

16. (25) Jesuit (Carmichael) (4-0)The Marauders made the biggest climb in the rankings after blasting previously ranked Franklin (Elk Grove) 42-7.
Jason Elenberger passed for 162 yards and three touchdowns and
Ben Parietti rushed for 136 yards and two scores in another terrific display of balance. The Marauders want to win their first league title since 2004, this one in the Delta River.

17. (NR) Yuba City (5-0)The Honkers jump into the rankings after rolling Placer (Auburn) 48-21 in a game in which they led 35-0 at the half.
Omar Herrera rushed for 173 yads and two touchdowns. The Honkers are defending Tri-County League champions.

18. (12) Inderkum (Sacramento) (3-2)The Tigers were shut down against No. 11 Rocklin 19-7. The other loss was to No. 3 Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 33-19. The Tigers have won five of the last six Tri-County League titles.

19. (14) Vacaville (2-2)The Bulldogs lost to No. 4 Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) 28-14, allowing the final two touchdowns of the game after it was 14-14 at the half. Vacaville is the defending Monticello Empire League champion.

20. (NR) Casa Roble (Orangevale) (4-1)The Rams bound into the rankings after a 1-9 season in 2012. QB
Peyton Wilfley accounted for six touchdowns in a 55-35 win over previously ranked Roseville. A year after going 1-9, Casa Roble eyes the Capital Valley Conference title.

The Delta Kings enter the rankings after beating Fairfield 67-0.
Wayne Brooks passed for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and Stagg had six sacks. The loss was 36-32 in an opener to Modesto.

Michael Rapacon passed for two touchdowns and

23. (23) Vista del Lago (Folsom) (4-1)The Eagles beat El Dorado 33-19 to open defense of their Sierra Delta title as
Matt Jimison passed for 434 yards and four touchdowns, hitting
Brayden Shouse 14 times for 223 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles are defending league champions.

24. (15) Franklin (Elk Grove) 3-2The Wildcats were overwhelmed at new No. 16 Jesuit (Carmichael) 42-7. The other loss was 24-21 to No. 4 Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills). Franklin is the defending Delta Valley Conference champion.
