Maury is 0-10 against Norview since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Maury Commodores will head out on the road to face off against the Norview Pilots at 5:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Maury had to settle for a 38-36 loss against Norfolk Collegiate. Maury has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Maury saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Myla Parker, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Arianna Owens was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Norview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 victory over Southeast Raleigh on Saturday.
Leyla Minor was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keona Mitchell, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Maury's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Norview, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Maury was taken down by Norview 68-8 when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for Maury, Diamond Wiggins (who scored 12 points along with 9 steals and 8 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
