Old Fort hasn't had much luck against Calvert recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Stockaders will face off against the Senecas at 5:00 p.m.
Old Fort is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost 11-0 to New Riegel.
Old Fort saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harry King, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Calvert came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Crimson Streaks with a sharp 21-4 victory. Considering the Senecas have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Cameron Moyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Calvert pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Old Fort has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Calvert struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Old Fort might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Calvert in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Stockaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
