TEACH are on the road again on Friday and plays the Portsmouth Christian Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. TEACH comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Back in January, TEACH came up short against StoneBridge and fell 34-25.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth Christian was the victim of a tough 58-35 loss at the hands of Richmond Christian on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Portsmouth Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Richmond Christian is ranked 175th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cloee Comberiati, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Delani Nash, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
TEACH dropped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Portsmouth Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
TEACH came up short against Portsmouth Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 34-22. Can TEACH avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
