Baseball Recap: Merino Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Merino won against Otis on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Rams beat the Simla Cubs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

Merino let Coen Schmidt and Isaac Poe run wild. Schmidt got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Poe got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Poe has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Everhart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Merino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

Merino is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Simla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Merino wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 loss against Highland on the 15th. As for Simla, they have also already played their next match, a 16-0 win against Custer County on the 15th.
