Schalick is 1-9 against Penns Grove since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Schalick Cougars will be playing at home against the Penns Grove Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Schalick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Schalick didn't have too much trouble with Gateway Regional at home as they won 61-47. The victory was just what Schalick needed coming off of a 68-42 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Penns Grove lost to Deptford at home by a decisive 70-51 margin on Friday. Penns Grove has not had much luck with Deptford recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Penns Grove saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mekhi Ballard, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Ballard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Giomar Conrad was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win got Schalick back to even at 4-4. As for Penns Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Things could have been worse for Schalick, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-56 loss to Penns Grove when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Schalick avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
