Xavier Prep suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-43 loss at the hands of Palm Desert. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Xavier Prep in their matchups with Palm Desert: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Xavier Prep had strong showings from Johnny Ferrel, who scored 15 points, and Paul Dreisbach, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Rochin, who scored four points.
Xavier Prep struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Palm Desert pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Palm Springs 61-55. While losing is never fun, Rancho Mirage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while Palm Springs is ranked 105th).
Xavier Prep bumped their record down to 5-18 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Rancho Mirage, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
