Softball Recap: Central Has No Trouble Against Booker T. Washington

Central never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Booker T. Washington Wildcats with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Tenley Smarr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Smarr was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Natalie Blair was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shelby Zigler, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Booker T. Washington only posted an OBP of .182.

With the win, Central broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-8. As for Booker T. Washington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Central will challenge Freeport at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Booker T. Washington, they will take on Aletheia Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
