The Highline Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 41-26 bruising from Sammamish. Highline has not had much luck with Sammamish recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Sammamish found their leader in underclassman Sophia Eastman, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Eastman has scored at least 25% of Sammamish's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Essie Hemnes, who scored two points along with eight steals and five assists.
Highline's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.0 points per game. As for Sammamish, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Highline will head out on the road to face off against Interlake at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Sammamish will be home for the holidays to greet Tyee at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
