Floydada had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Quanah Indians a 22-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Whirlwinds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Madison Pyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Floydada got a massive performance out of Jenna Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilynn Hinsley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Floydada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .848. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Floydada's record is now 23-2. As for Quanah, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-10.
