On Thursday, Whittier Christian lost to West at home by a decisive 66-47 margin. While losing is never fun, Whittier Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 895th, while West is ranked 304th).
Whittier Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Sandoval, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. Sandoval scored a full 31.9% of Whittier Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aaron Henry was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Whittier Christian and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for West, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Whittier Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bolsa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carson at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
