Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Camp Verde's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Camp Verde never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Madison Highland Prep Heat 19-0. Considering the Cowboys have won 11 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Sapp made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Haygen Armstrong was incredible, firing off four doubles, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four doubles gave her a new career-high. Mariah Munoz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Camp Verde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Highland Prep only posted an OBP of .154.

Camp Verde has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Madison Highland Prep, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camp Verde will challenge Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison Highland Prep, they will face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Heat will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
