The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mendota, who took down 680th ranked Mendota, 25-20. Josh Allen threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 12 yards in the win.
Coalinga extended the longest winning streak in West Sierra this week by beating Tranquillity, 42-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Firebaugh's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Chris lopez chipped in 65 yards. Anthony Argueta helped Firebaugh's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Jason Allen was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles defeated the Aztecs. Allen racked up six receptions for 85 yards.
Firebaugh's Allen and Jordan Martinez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Allen has thrown for 1880 yards this season, while Martinez, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 71 catches for 580 yards. Coalinga's Ryan Vasquez leads the league in rushing yards with 1368.
Bill Magnusson's team moved up to 722 from 758 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Sierra. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of topping Mendota 25-20.
