The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. Piper will square off against Bonner Springs at 7:00 PM on Friday. Piper will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
The last time the two teams met, Piper put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season. They put a hurting on Bonner Springs to the tune of 69-20. Senior Dalton White was the offensive standout of the match for Piper, as he rushed for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns. If you haven't heard White's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past eight games.
As for Bonner Springs, it's was a good run, but they finally witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak. They were dealt a punishing 20-69 defeat at the hands of Piper. The state rankings had actually given Bonner Springs a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Piper's victory lifted them to 4-4 while Bonner Springs's loss dropped them down to 5-4. With six turnovers, Bonner Springs had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if Piper exploit that vulnerability.
