Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Christopher Harvey and Ben Simons Lead Coal Ridge to Victory

Coal Ridge won the last time they faced DSST: Cedar and things went their way on Thursday too. The Coal Ridge Titans walked away with a 60-48 win over the DSST: Cedar Falcons.

Coal Ridge was led to victory by Ben Simons and Christopher Harvey. Simons dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards, while Harvey went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points. With that strong performance, Simons is now averaging an impressive 9.5 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Parker, who posted seven points.

Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Defeat or not, DSST: Cedar got some senior leadership from Matt Stophel and Isaac Jaquette. Stophel dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, while Jaquette went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. Stophel is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abdi Vidow, who posted six points and five rebounds.

The victory got Coal Ridge back to even at 2-2. As for DSST: Cedar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coal Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-38 win against Lotus School For Excellence on the 13th. As for DSST: Cedar, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-50 victory against Meeker on the 13th.
