The Independence Patriots can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They blew past Liberty 68-38 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-14.
Independence was led to victory by Harmony Mills and Lacey Goodson. Mills scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Goodson scored 29 points along with five rebounds. Mills is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Wooten, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Independence used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Liberty. And. Mackenzie Cadle made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Independence is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will square off against Montcalm at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Montcalm: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Independence has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Liberty, they will take on Shady Spring at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is facing Shady Spring at the right time seeing as Shady Spring is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
