The biggest upset of the week belonged to Portage Northern, who took down 34th ranked Portage Northern, 20-14. Trevor Sweeney ran for 128 yards and caught one passes for four yards in the win.
Lakeshore extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern Michigan - West this week by beating Benton Harbor, 59-18. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Lakeshore's JOHNNY NATE and HAROLD WIGGINS have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. NATE has thrown for 1211 yards this season, while WIGGINS, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 42 catches for 608 yards. Sweeney from Mattawan leads the league in rushing with 1335 yards.
The Wildcats' Brok Lamorandier needs only 82 yards against Lakeview next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 118 carries Lamorandier has accumulated 918 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Huskies take on Portage Central. As it stands, Portage Northern is in third, while the Mustangs are in fourth.
Mattawan and Pete Schermerhorn's team played the most hotly contested game in Southwestern Michigan - West this week, with Mattawan eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory. Sweeney in the win.
