Sherman has gone a perfect 7-0 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tide will venture away from home to square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Sherman is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
13 must be Sherman's lucky number: they beat Tolsia with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Tide put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Tide have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Makayla Harless, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lexie Lowe, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Harless wasn't the only one making solid contact: Sherman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The Tide are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Liberty suffered their closest defeat since March 19th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Shady Spring by a score of 6-4.
Alyssa Scarbro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Maddie Toler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Sherman pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Liberty's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sherman has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Liberty, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Sherman's sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Sherman took their win against Liberty when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tide since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
