The Cisco Loboes will take on the Haskell Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cisco sitting on 14 straight wins and Haskell on five.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Cisco nor Coleman made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Loboes walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Bluecats.
Aubrey Corpus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Pearson Hearne was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Arnold, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cisco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Haskell gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Anson 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Paisley Chavez-Guevara, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Reagan Adkins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Haskell's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Cisco, their win bumped their record up to 17-7-2.
Cisco's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Loboes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Haskell, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cisco continue to outrun the ball?
