The MAST Community Charter Panthers will challenge the Delaware County Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. MAST Community Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
MAST Community Charter's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Jenkintown 26-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Dan Roantree made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Roantree was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Armando Taglianetti and Keegan Kanagie did most of the damage at the plate: Taglianetti scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Kanagie went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Taglianetti has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. David Kondravy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
MAST Community Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Delaware County Christian gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against High Point Baptist Academy, sneaking past 4-2.
Delaware County Christian also got a great performance from Josiah Lyren as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Lyren a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Nathan Burd was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matteo DeBellis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Delaware County Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for MAST Community Charter, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Delaware County Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: MAST Community Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. It's a different story for Delaware County Christian, though, as they've only averaged .291. Will they be able to contain MAST Community Charter's hitters?
