After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matchups, The Oceanside Pirates finally came back down to earth on Friday. They fell 14-7 to Valley Center.
When it comes to explaining why Oceanside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trey Nastazio. Despite the final result, he picked up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Valley Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kevin Garcia led the charge by gaining 114 total yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Braylon Mitchell, who threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Oceanside's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Valley Center, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Oceanside will be playing at home against Steele Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Steele Canyon is ranked 260th, while Oceanside is ranked 249th). As for Valley Center, they will head out on the road to face off against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Imperial is on a five-game streak of home wins, Valley Center a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
