The O'Neill Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-49 bruising from Norfolk Catholic. If O'Neill was looking for revenge after losing 61-57 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why O'Neill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drew Morrow. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 69.4% of O'Neill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Dusatko, who scored three points along with two steals.
Nolan Fennessy was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds for Norfolk Catholic. Fennessy is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Max Hammond was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Norfolk Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
O'Neill is on the road again on Friday and plays the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Norfolk Catholic, they will take on the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
