Snowflake is a perfect 10-0 against Show Low since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Snowflake will challenge Show Low at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Snowflake was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Holbrook on Tuesday. Snowflake never let Holbrook get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Lobos have beaten the Roadrunners the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Roadrunners has come to flipping the script.
Kashlynn Cantrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Taya Schneider was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Graycee Skousen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Show Low had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Redskins 9-3.
Like Snowflake, Show Low also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley Heuett. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Heuett has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Addisyn Clark was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Show Low's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Snowflake, their record now sits at 7-3.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Snowflake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Snowflake took their victory against Show Low in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Snowflake since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
