The Sanford Mustangs fell victim to the Mancos Bluejays''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Bluejays 58-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sanford in their matchups with Mancos: they've now lost four in a row.
Kail Wayman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mancos, rushing for 201 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 88 yards and a touchdown. Levi Martin also helped out as he racked up 117 rushing yards.
Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mancos, their win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sanford will take on Dolores at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dolores is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Mancos, they have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Norwood at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Norwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Mancos is ranked third).
