Gordon Lee started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Heritage. They fell  28-21 to the Generals on Friday. The Trojans were up  14-0 in the first  quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
 Dustin Day threw for 144 yards  on 11 of 17 attempts.   Garrett Ross was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards.  On the ground,  Layne Vaughn rushed for 101 yards and three  TDs.
  Brayden Slaughter had another great game (as  he tends to do), rushing for 116 yards and three  scores for Heritage. Those  three  rushing touchdowns gave  Slaughter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cody Bryan, who picked up 93 receiving yards and one  touchdown.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Gordon Lee  fell to 2-1. As for Heritage, their record is now 3-1.
 Coming up, Gordon Lee will challenge Armuchee at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. This will  be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Heritage, they will have some time to savor their  victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ridgeland at 7:30  p.m.  on  the 19th. The Generals will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31  points  in their last three games.
