Mountain Ridge got a massive performance out of Lucas Baughman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave Baughman a new career-high. Joe Forbes was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Baughman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mountain Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Queen Creek entered their tilt with Highland on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Hawks. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.
Mason Lizzaraga tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Jet Berry and Alex Gamboa did most of the damage at the plate: Berry scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Gamboa scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ransom, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Mountain Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Queen Creek, their record now sits at 9-3.
Mountain Ridge came up short against Queen Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
