Irondequoit is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Brighton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Irondequoit Eagles will take on the Brighton Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Irondequoit earned a 36-27 win over Webster Schroeder.
Irondequoit got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Ballard out in front who threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Steven Clinkscales was another key contributor, picking up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Brighton fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against McQuaid Jesuit on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 32-31 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Brighton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while McQuaid Jesuit is ranked 34th).
Irondequoit's victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Brighton's loss dropped theirs to 4-3.
Things could have been worse for Irondequoit, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-26 loss to Brighton when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Irondequoit have more luck at home instead of on the road?
