Aberdeen is 1-9 against the Bearcats since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Aberdeen Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the WF West Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Aberdeen has not done well against the Highclimbers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Aberdeen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Highclimbers.
Aberdeen relied on the efforts of Jhacob Quezada, who scored 12 points, and Manny Garcia, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Charlie Ancich was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, WF West came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Centralia 49-33. Given WF West's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Tigers are ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aberdeen's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for WF West, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Aberdeen was dealt a bruising 62-22 loss at the hands of the Bearcats when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Aberdeen was down 37-12.
