The Adams City Eagles fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 56-45 victory over Aurora Central on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Adams City also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Fernanda Hernandez was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals.
Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez and Alayna McClain certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while McClain scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. McClain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nijaha Davis, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Adams City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. As for Aurora Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Adams City won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Gateway has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. Aurora Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hinkley at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hinkley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
