Lincoln won the last time they faced Manual and things went their way on Monday too. The Lancers put the hurt on the Thunderbolts with a sharp 9-3 win. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Gio Castro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Castro was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Sam Trujillo was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 13-2 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Gonzales, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Manual, they moved to 13-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Lincoln nor the Thunderbolts have any future games scheduled.
