Bear Grass Charter is a perfect 7-0 against Hobgood Charter since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Vance Keel had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 86 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, while also picking up 45 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another back making a difference was Eric Carmen, who rushed for 63 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bear Grass Charter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 387 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Hobgood Charter made sure to put some points up on the board against Columbia last Friday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 38-14 victory.
Hobgood Charter's win came from a few key players Bear Grass Charter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Armanti Alston, who rushed for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. Jacob Tutor was another key rusher, rushing for 122 yards and one TD on only 15 carries.
Hobgood Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Alston led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Bear Grass Charter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Hobgood Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Bear Grass Charter has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 317.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hobgood Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 193.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
