Antigo hasn't had much luck against Medford recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Robins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Antigo has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Antigo and Rhinelander had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Red Robins took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hodags on Tuesday. Red Robins fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hodags since on Tuesday.
Zach Bula led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Gordon Lucht was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Medford gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tomahawk, sneaking past 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Hayden Strebig was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Medford is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-7 otherwise. Strebig was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Lissner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Medford is 3-1 when Lissner posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Restyn Kraschnewski, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Medford's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Antigo, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
