Basketball Game Preview: Treasure Coast Titans vs. Melbourne Bulldogs

The Treasure Coast Titans just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Melbourne Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Treasure Coast will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Treasure Coast made easy work of Suncoast and carried off a 55-34 victory.

Treasure Coast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dejuan Preston, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 15 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Preston a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Torre Washington, who posted eight points along with 14 boards and four blocks.

Treasure Coast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Melbourne). They blew past Satellite 84-46 on Tuesday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Scorpions are ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Melbourne has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Treasure Coast, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Treasure Coast was able to grind out a solid win over Melbourne in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 52-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Treasure Coast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
