Goose Creek (S.C.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
Summerville (S.C.), 49-14, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Dantez Bennamon to Kalan Ritchie in the first quarter, the Gators led 21-7 at the half.
Goose Creek expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. GC scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Tramel Terry.
The Gators' standout player in the win was Bennamon. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
When the two teams played each other last season, Goose Creek came away with a 19-7 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Summerville, which notched a 36-12 victory over Berkeley in its previous outing. With the win GC extended its winning streak to three games.
Goose Creek (3-0) goes up against Fort Dorchester in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Summerville (1-2) locks horns with Wando also in a non-conference game.
